Happy Holidays, Everyone! | My 2012 Resolution

For 2012 I will focus again on the two topics most dear to my heart – Lifelong Learning and Community Engagement.

In these tough times we all need to volunteer our time and talents to make our community stronger.  I have found time and time again that one of the best ways for me to keep learning is to take on new tasks and work with new people so, at least for me, Lifelong Learning and Civic Engagement are two sides of the same coin.

I entered kindergarten full of wonder and excitement at age 4 and have continued to love school as a student, teacher, and volunteer to the present day.  Because “now” always seems to me the very best time of my life,  I am  trying to integrate the latest tech tools into everything that I do.  At Jackson-Via school I am a reading tutor/mentor for several ESL students and I am helping the teachers develop grade-level websites.  Transitioning to WordPress from traditional websites has had at times a steep learning curve, and I am so glad that volunteering in the City schools gave me the push that I needed to learn these new skills.

I hope that you will join me in the year to come  as an engaged lifelong learner and volunteer.

Happy holidays, everyone!
