Literacy Volunteers (LVCA) Training, May 18, 2013
A truly intergenerational (20’s through 70’s !!!) group of very friendly, warm, enthusiastic trainers and trainees gathered on Saturday morning in JABA‘s bright Martha Williams Community Center in the beautifully restored Jefferson School for a full day of training.
The new volunteer tutors will each be paired with a student from the growing number of people in our community who would like to speak, read, and write English with more ease and fluency.
We were treated to coffee, sweets, and a delicious lunch catered by the Vinegar Hill Cafe, which turned the tutoring session into a fun party.
So many of my favorite things all together in one spot.
Charlottesville is a wonderful PLACE!
