Thanks, Andrew at UVa Scholars’ Lab in Alderman Library, for the really fun Fusion 360 tutorial!

I learned that Autodesk Fusion 360 Personal is free for students or hobbyists like me.

I have been using TinkerCAD by Autodesk for several years as I helped elementary school students investigate the wonders of 3D drawing and printing, but I have been away from it for a while. I had no idea that I would be able to try out Fusion 360 on my home computer and work through all the online tutorials that they provide. What a treasure!

The couple hours tutorial by Andrew at the UVa Scholars’ Lab was priceless.

A lot to learn, but this was a great start.

Next steps

I am planning visit the Scholars’ Lab on a regular basis to learn from those more experienced in 3D printing, but I always enjoy a book that is filled with screen shots and lots of information. At the very least, it will will sit there and remind me to get back to my learning. I can’t say this enough – This project is going to take a while!
