I stopped by the McIntire Botanical Garden table yesterday at the City Market – at first, I admit, because I was drawn by the beautiful t-shirts for sale. Then I realized that this was the project that I had read about in the paper a few months ago. This is such a great opportunity for us to create a living classroom for our community to enjoy for years to come.
I think the idea for a community botanical garden is especially attractive to all of the retirees in our area who reluctantly gave up gardening as they downsized and moved into more manageable townhomes, apartments and condos. The idea of being able to help with such a project is as entrancing as leafing through the seed catalogs as they arrive during the cold winter months. Just think of what could be accomplished!
–Yes, I did get a shirt!
