Two new volunteer opportunities from JABA

  • Louisa County students are working hard to catch up from a fall semester of disruption and chaos in their lives due to the earthquake.  School administrators could use your help.  JABA’s FISH (Friends In Schools Helping) program is working with Trevilians Elementary and Thomas Jefferson Elementary to connect volunteers with the children to build up their skills in reading and math, complete their homework and improve their academic performance.  All we need is a commitment of an hour a week and you can make a big difference.  If you are interested, please call the FISH Team at 817-5289 or email them at fish@jabacares.org.

Twice Is Nice, JABA’s upscale resale shop in Preston Plaza, is having a makeover.  We need help on Monday, February 6th, emptying the store to get ready for the contractors and again on Monday, February 13th, to re-stage the store.  All proceeds from Twice Is Nice go to support older adults at Mountainside Senior Living and you can get a head start on your spring wardrobe since you earn one “TIN buck” for every hour you volunteer.  If you or any group you know could help us out, please call Joncey Boggs at the store, 293-8319.
