Thank you for supporting our efforts to secure the future of the Charlottesville City Market. Market Central is a non-profit organization, formed to support the Charlottesville City Market, and the dedicated area farmers who bring the best in seasonal produce to the Charlottesville community every week.
We are in need of several volunteers to help with our 2009 FARM TOUR program, and would like to invite you to show your support for area farmers by volunteering to help staff the tour!
• Monday, September 7, 2009 (Labor Day) 10 a.m to 4 p.m
• 5 local farms are participating (Southern Albemarle, Nelson County, and Rappahannock County)
• Guests purchase a ticket (only $5 per carload!) Visitors are given a map and brochure, describing the farms and directions to each one
• Visitors can visit as many farms as they like, at their own pace
Here’s what to expect when you volunteer for this event:
Volunteers will staff a greeting booth at each participating farm, provide parking assistance and literature, and give basic directions for the tour set-up at their farm – (the farmers will conduct the actual tours)
We ask that you sign up for a morning or afternoon shift (9:30 to 1:00, or 12:30 to 4:00)
We welcome teams of two or three — recruit a friend(s) to work your shift with you!
You’ll have ample opportunity to see the farm where you’re assigned, plus you’ll receive a pass to visit other farms on the tour
and, of course….. some farm/market goodies!
