In 2009 a class at WriterHouse on WordPress publishing got me interested in an after-school computer club at Jackson-Via Elementary School. One thing led to another and soon we had multiple Jackson-Via School websites. The power of WordPress for creating classroom websites to simplify teachers’ publishing of helpful links for students and parents to use at home was instantly apparent, so those websites were soon added to the collection.
When Charlottesville Tomorrow began promoting Cvillepedia as a way to publish historical items in celebration of Charlottesville’s 250 years, we started a digital scrapbook for Jackson-Via. I was happy to notice recently that our Cvillepedia digital scrapbook is being archived on the Wayback Machine as are our multiple WordPress websites.
Our thanks to everyone who has provided Jackson-Via memorabilia for this project. We hope that is a scrapbook that will not end up in an attic somewhere only to be discarded at a later date!
